“NNJ DSA is proud to endorse David Guirgis for Hudson County Commissioner – District 4. Grounded in a campaign by and for working people, David will fight for green social housing, universal childcare, and free HCCC. Get involved by going to davidforjc.com,” the organization said in a statement.

Their support comes as no surprise, given that Guirgis has been a card carrying DSA member for years. The group picked up two big wins in last year’s non-partisan Jersey City Council races: Joel Brooks in Ward B and Jake Ephros in Ward D.

The seat, which also includes a section of downtown, is currently occupied by Yraida Aponte-Lipski, who has indicated she plans to seek re-election for a third term.

“DSA is my political home, and I am so humbled to receive the endorsement of my friends, comrades, and movement builders in NNJ-DSA as we fight for a Hudson County for the many,” Guirgis added.

“Together, we’re going to build green social housing, deliver universal childcare, and make Hudson County Community College free for everyone. And we will do it because the working class of Hudson County don’t just need it — we deserve it.”
